PhotoCloak exists to remove the hidden data attached to your photos: where a picture was taken, when, on which camera, sometimes down to the serial number. An app with that job has no business collecting anything itself, and this one does not.
When you pick photos, iOS hands PhotoCloak only the images you selected. It reads their metadata with Apple's ImageIO framework to show you what is hidden inside: GPS coordinates, TIFF and EXIF headers, IPTC tags and camera MakerNotes. It does not scan or index the rest of your library.
Scrubbing rewrites the file's metadata and copies the original pixels across untouched, so the picture is not recompressed and does not lose quality. The cleaned copy is written where you choose to save or share it. Originals are left exactly as they were unless you replace them yourself.
PhotoCloak contains no networking code. It cannot upload a photo because it has no way to make a network request at all. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK. It works in Airplane Mode.
PhotoCloak is a one-time purchase on the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
PhotoCloak is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children, because it collects no personal information at all.
